MANN+HUMMEL USA opens new South Campus facility
MANN+HUMMEL USA (MHUS) celebrated the official opening of its new world-class South Campus facitlity with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
PORTAGE, MICH., Sept. 30, 2014 – Yesterday, MANN+HUMMEL USA (MHUS) celebrated the official opening of its new world-class South Campus facitlity with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
“The opening of our new South Campus building gives us the space for current business and for future business opportunities,” said Kurk Wilks, vice president and general manager of MHUS. “Our new building is a great example of our strategic growth plan in action. By providing innovative solutions to our customers we will continue to grow aggressively in the automotive industry.”
The new 220,000 square-foot facility was carefully designed utilizing lean principles. It will house production of air cleaner systems, battery frames and assembly of intake manifolds, coolant reservoirs. It is also a warehouse and distribution center. Approximately 200 associates will staff the facility by the end of 2014, bringing the total number of MANN+HUMMEL associates in Portage to 500.
“This is truly an outstanding organization. The wonderful work you are doing with your associates is particularly impressive,” said Governor Rick Snyder. “There are very few organziations where assoicates talk about the organziation’s values, like they do here. I think you will continue to see this place grow, fill-up, and contine to be successful.”
The South Campus building is located 500 yards from the North Campus building. Both buildings are connected through a new private road, Campus Drive, located at the rear of the properties.
