Chongqing, October 27, 2015 – MANN+HUMMEL, the filtration expert from Germany, has opened its Chongqing plant today, the sixth in China for the company, at an investment of more than RMB 30 million. The new plant, which started production in June, will better satisfy the demand of customers from Southwest China, providing them with convenient access to high-quality filtration products and service, including products for car manufacturers, as well as commercial vehicle and engine applications. In addition to supporting the development of local and global customers with automotive production based in Southwest China, the plant gives MANN+HUMMEL an expanded geographical footprint to sharpen its competitive edge in the industry.

The 10,000-square meter plant at No. 146 Dongfeng Road, Yuzui Town, Jiangbei, has perfected its quality control and delivery control processes to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products. The plant mainly produces intake manifolds, air filter systems including ducts for passenger vehicle manufacturers with an annual output estimated to reach two million units. Among the customers being served are Changan Ford and Changan Suzuki as many their car models use the air filter systems and intake manifolds produced in the Chongqing plant.

“The completion of the Chongqing plant is a significant milestone for MANN+HUMMELto further grow our OEM business with vehicle manufacturers based in Southwestern China. Chongqing is among the top automotive clusters in China and we need to be there to make our leading filtration technology accessible to our global and local key customers that have set up a production base in or near Chongqing,” said Josef Parzhuber, MANN+HUMMEL's Group Vice President and CEO for Asia-Pacific.

Choosing Chongqing as its production hub in Southwest China also demonstrates how crucial and strategic China is to MANN+HUMMEL. The China market contributes more than 10 percent of MANN+HUMMEL’s global business. Since MANN+HUMMEL entered the China market in 1996, it has expedited local investment in research and development, production, sales, and talent cultivation. Since 2010, MANN+HUMMEL has continued setting up modern production and engineering facility in Shanghai with satellite plantsin Jinan in North-Central China Liuzhou in South; Chongqing in the Southwest; and a new production facility for its joint-venture in Changchun in the Northeast.

In addition, the company also acquired a local filter manufacturer in Bengbu to serve the replacement market with an affordable filter program in aftermarket specification under the local Haoye brand. This adds on to the proven MANN- FILTER brand which has become a leading premium brand in OE quality, not only in Europe, but also in the independent aftermarket in China.
