Truck Competence: MANN-FILTER – Automechanika 2012

U 630 x – Extra service-friendly

At Automechanika, MANN-FILTER will present a new design U 630 x urea filter element which protects the sensitive SCR systems of current trucks and buses against contaminants. The great advantage for the mechanic is its push-fit connection, making it quick and easy to replace. The U 630x contains a compensating element for operating at sub-zero temperatures.

Ludwigsburg, 11th September 2012 – U 630 x is a new design urea filter element from MANN-FILTER for SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems. The element is available as a kit, including the necessary components to change the filter. Like the rest of the product range, it helps to ensure that vehicles adhere to Euro VI exhaust emissions standards which come into force on 1st January 2013. A compensating element made from foam elastomer (EPDM) provides the necessary pressure equalisation when the aqueous uea solution freezes. A key feature of MANN-FILTER U 630 x is its service-friendly design: no screw threads or screws are required. It has a push-fit connection and, thanks to the precisely fitting shape of the housing, always slides into the correct position.

MANN+HUMMEL supplies urea filters for the independent aftermarket under the MANN-FILTER brand name. They are manufactured in a clean room, in accordance with customers’ specifications. They separate contaminants of around 3-5 microns in size and protect the sensitive SCR systems – feed pump, dosing unit and injection components – against wear and failure. Thanks to the filters, the aqueous urea solution achieves the required level of purity when refilled under the demanding everyday conditions of the vehicle fleet. MANN-FILTER brand urea filters in OE quality are available for all current trucks and buses fitted with SCR systems.

SCR technology is based on a reducing agent for nitrogen oxides, a 32.5% aqueous urea solution, which is injected through a dosing unit into the exhaust gas flow. Ammonia is separated in the hot exhaust gases, and this converts the nitrogen oxides (NOx) generated during combustion into nitrogen (N2), the main constituent of air, and water (H2O) in the downstream SCR catalytic converter. This aftertreatment of exhaust gases reduces nitrogen oxides and reduces particle emission levels, compared with Euro V applications.

Competence with trucks, demonstrated by the range of MANN-FILTER brand urea filters, is an integral part of every MANN-FILTER supplied by MANN+HUMMEL for commercial vehicle applications. Further examples of this competence will be presented at Automechanika.
