Preliminary results 2012

Ludwigsburg, 22nd January 2013 – MANN+HUMMEL has strongly affirmed its position in uneven and volatile markets. Global sales were approximately 2.6 billion Euro, which represents an increase of around 4% for the development partner and original equipment supplier to the international automotive and mechanical engineering industries (2011: 2.47 billion Euro). The organisation employed around 14,750 people last year, in Europe, North and South America and Asia (2011: 14,338).

‘I would like to thank all employees for their commitment in a difficult environment. We are satisfied with our sales and results’, said Alfred Weber, President & CEO. ‘Together, we have established many pre-requisites for a successful 2013, making us fit to tackle future challenges’.

There were already indications in the first half year 2012 that sales trends would be restrained. The double-digit growth of the previous year would not be achieved due to the uneven economic situation in most automotive markets. That notwithstanding, the independent US market research institute Freedonia confirmed in summer 2012 that MANN+HUMMEL was the market leader in filtration. In the total market for filtration applications world-wide, the institute places the filtration specialist in top position. It values the market at around 40 billion Euros and forecasts annual growth rates of approximately 7% up to 2020. Freedonia names the regions of Asia-Pacific, South America/NAFTA, the Middle East and Eastern Europe as the driving force for growth. MANN+HUMMEL is firmly established in all of the named growth regions.

Following publication of preliminary results, the company will continue tradition by releasing further details on business development at their annual results press conference in April.
