2012: MANN+HUMMEL is growing and investing

• Turnover up 6% to EUR 2.62 billion
• Operating profit (EBIT) up 3% to EUR 146 million
• EBIT margin of 5.6% remains stable at previous year's level
• 14,575 employees at 59 locations – 237 more than the previous year
• More than EUR 30 million invested in a technology centre in Ludwigsburg

Ludwigsburg, 11 April 2013 – The MANN+HUMMEL Group (www.mann-hummel.com), which is based in Ludwigsburg, enjoyed solid growth in 2012 despite the inconsistency and volatility of the markets. At its annual results press conference, the filtration specialist reported on how the business had developed in 2012 and on a major investment project. The figures on the books reveal a turnover of EUR 2.62 billion (up by 5.8 percent) and a Group operating profit (EBIT) of EUR 146 million (up by 2.8 percent). More than EUR 30 million are being put into a technology centre in Ludwigsburg.

Alfred Weber, President and CEO, reported that he is pleased with the results and envisages similar levels of growth for 2013: "This year we expect growth in turnover to be on a par with last year and the same applies with regard to Group operating profit. We are plotting a course for further growth and believe, firstly, that demand will pick up from 2014 and, secondly, that our high levels of investment in people and machinery will pay off."

The construction of a new technology centre in Ludwigsburg is likely to prove one of the greatest investments in the company's history. Over the next three years, MANN+HUMMEL intends to thoroughly modernise its headquarters in Ludwigsburg and construct a new technology and validation centre that is big enough to house all employees in one place and is also equipped with state-of-the-art development facilities and test benches.

"It is our job to ensure that MANN+HUMMEL not only enjoys success now, but also has a promising future ahead of it. This will turn Ludwigsburg into an greater driving force for R&D and for the Group's strategic direction", explained Weber.

As at 31 December 2012, the number of employees stood at 14,575, an increase of 237 compared with the previous year. The company recognises that the key figures for 2012 are the fruit of all its employees' fantastic collaborative efforts. "On behalf of the Board of Management and the shareholders, I would like to thank all our employees for their hard work and passionate commitment in 2012. Our employees are the most important factor in our success – both now and in the future," said Weber. That is why the company has increased the number of new apprentices and DHBW (Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University) students in Germany by around nine percent over the past year. At the start of the 2012 training year, 82 young people launched their careers at the MANN+HUMMEL Group. At the end of 2012, the number of apprentices totalled 240. The Group now offers apprenticeships based on a similar model at all its German locations.
