Increased motor room safety and performance with Macrogen GT Duo
MANN+HUMMEL VOKES AIR will introduce the Macrogen GT Duo ventilation filter for motor rooms to the railway industry at InnoTrans 2014. Macrogen GT Duo provides a dual function: water and particle separation to improve the performance and safety of the propulsion motor.
Speyer – September 23, 2014 – Filtration specialist MANN+HUMMEL VOKES AIR, will present their Macrogen GT Duo ventilation filter at the leading transport trade fair InnoTrans 2014 in Berlin.
Employing a unique hydrophobic media, Macrogen GT Duo provides effective water removal whilst simultaneously capturing coarse and fine dust particulate from incoming air. This dual function means that effective water separation can be employed with little or no retrofitting, reducing the conductivity of the air and preserving the motor and auxiliary equipment.
Doug Hynd, Director of the company’s Engineered Solutions business unit, explains “Traditional inlet arrangements of panel filters perform adequately at removing dust, but the moisture in the air is still present. As Macrogen GT Duo eliminates both forms of contaminant, water protection can be installed in places previously impossible. This reduction in moisture lowers the conductivity of the air, lowering the risk of arcing and improving the efficiency of the motor.”
A proven product in the power generation and marine industries, there are similar applications for Macrogen GT Duo in the railway market too, an industry already familiar to MANN+HUMMEL Vokes Air.
In addition to motor room ventilation, the company also produce prefilters and HVAC filters from their three manufacturing plants in Germany, Sweden and the UK.
In February 2014, the MANN+HUMMEL group with its headquarters in Ludwigsburg, took over Vokes Air. The company, headquartered in Svenljunga, Sweden is a leading supplier of filters for various applications, including HVAC and process air. The acquisition by MANN+HUMMEL allows the group to participate in a market segment with high potential. The new company was renamed to MANN+HUMMEL VOKES AIR.
