MANN+HUMMEL Donation Event held in Liucheng Country, Liuzhou City
Liuzhou, China/ 6th July, 2012 – The MANN+HUMMEL "Books Connect Love" Donation Event has been held in Gongan Hope Primary School of Liucheng County, Liuzhou City, marking MANN+HUMMEL’ s contribution to social welfare activities in this city in Southwest China. Mr. Luiz Ferrari, General Manager of MANN+HUMMEL Shanghai and Ms. Li Miao, the Secretary of the Youth League Committee of Liucheng County, joined all of the students and faculty in attending the ceremony. As a leading global expert for filtration solutions in automotive and industries, MANN+HUMMEL has always committed itself to the cause of social welfare. Through this event, MANN+HUMMEL donates books, sporting goods and teaching aids to Gongan Hope Primary School of Liucheng County, in order to improve its teaching facilities and enrich students’ extracurricular experiences.
Gongan Hope Primary School is located in Wenlu Village, near Guzhai Town - home of the Melao Ethnic Minority - in Liucheng County, with 210 students and 12 teachers. The area is far away from convenient transportation network and the economy is still to be developed. Many parents of the students are migrant workers and go home only once a year. The school needs better infrastructure, teaching aids and basic sporting goods such as basketballs and Ping-Pong bats. However, children are strongly eager to enrich their school lives and know more about the outside world through books and other activities.
On 31st May, 2012, the MANN+HUMMEL Liuzhou plant was established. While taking care of its own business, MANN+HUMMEL also devotes itself to fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities. Upon being informed of the shortage of teaching supplies in Gongan Hope Primary School of Liucheng County, MANN+HUMMEL took immediate action to raise funds and encourage all employees to participate in the donation program.

To help solve this problem, MANN+HUMMEL initiated the "Books Connect Love" internal donation campaign. This campaign includes two parts, first part is a corporate donation with ports equipment including basketballs, footballs, table tennis equipment and teaching supplies to improve the school’s teaching conditions. The second part comes from. MANN+HUMMEL China staffs. They have donated interesting children books to the school library. "These equipments and books are exactly what the children need. We appreciate the kindness of MANN+HUMMEL and hope that more enterprises will join the scheme to benefit children by enhancing their educational experience", Mr. Zhu Zhiping Headmaster of Gongan Hope Primary School noted.
During the visit in the school, the representatives from MANN+HUMMEL had friendship matches in Table Tennis, badminton and basket ball with the children who normally do not receive often visitors from the outside world, even more the foreigners. This is an interesting and unforgettable experience both for the children and the MANN+HUMMEL representatives.
