Clean air on every journey: cabin air filters for motorhomes
MANN-FILTER recommends: regular filter replacement improves hygiene and comfort in the cabin and provides workshops with an attractive source of additional business.
Ludwigsburg, February 24, 2026 – For many motorhome owners, spring marks the start of a busier travel season – a good reason to take your vehicle in for a thorough check-up at the workshop. The quality of cabin air is often underestimated in this process. Studies show that air pollution inside the vehicle is often significantly higher than outside – up to five times as much depending on the traffic situation. Cabin air filters, also known as pollen filters, make an important contribution to reducing this burden, as they clean the intake air of particulate matter, pollen, harmful gases, and odors while driving.
MANN-FILTER is one of the world’s leading filter brands and offers a wide range of high-quality cabin air filters in original equipment quality for numerous motorhomes. In recreational vehicles in particular, air quality plays an important role: cabins are exposed to higher levels of pollen and dust, and many vehicles are used seasonally. A regularly replaced cabin air filter ensures that the air remains clean while driving and protects the occupants from harmful particles and unpleasant odors.
Cabin air filters for motorhomes: three types – two strong recommendations
Three types of cabin air filter are available for use in motorhomes: traditional particle filters, activated carbon filters and biofunctional filters. “We recommend activated carbon filters and the FreciousPlus for motorhomes,” says Jens Bastobbe, Product Manager for Cabin Air Filters at MANN‑FILTER.
Activated carbon filter – reliable choice for many operating conditions
By combining a high-quality particle medium with an activated carbon layer, MANN-FILTER activated carbon filters effectively protect against unpleasant odors and harmful gases such as ozone and nitrogen oxides (NOx). This noticeably improves the climate inside the motorhome, especially during trips through cities or on routes with lots of tunnels.
FreciousPlus – premium protection for the highest demands
The FreciousPlus goes one step further: its additional biofunctional coating reduces allergens and inhibits the growth of bacteria and mold spores. The FreciousPlus ensures noticeably fresher and more hygienic cabin air, especially after longer service life, when humidity and microbial loads typically increase.
Why changing the filter at the start of the season is so important
During the winter break or with a longer service life, pollen, dust and moisture are stored in the intake areas and on the evaporator. Once the air conditioning system is switched back on in spring, the change between evaporator cooling and subsequent heating creates ideal conditions for the formation and proliferation of mold and bacteria. These microbial deposits can significantly impair air quality, lead to unpleasant odors and are particularly harmful to allergy sufferers. A new cabin air filter provides a quick remedy and noticeably improves the cabin climate while driving – especially in combination with evaporator cleaning.
Bastobbe emphasizes: “The start of the season is the ideal time to change the cabin air filter. Workshops can thus create tangible added value in a short time: cleaner air, fewer odors and satisfied customers – especially on long journeys. Our MANN-FILTER cabin air filters for passenger cars and vans come with clearly structured installation instructions. This simplifies the service process in the workshop and ensures fast, error-free installation.”
The recommendation is to change the filter at least once a year or every 15,000 km.

MANN-FILTER cabin air filters are available for many of the most commonly used platforms in the camper van sector, including:
- Citroën Jumper
