Easy servicing thanks to innovative air filter
The patented MANN-FILTER air filter C 29 046 for commercial vehicles impresses with a high separation efficiency of 99.98 percent, complex sealing and reliable protection for driver and vehicle.
Ludwigsburg, May 13th, 2025 – International filtration expert MANN+HUMMEL has developed a new air filter for commercial vehicles for its premium brand MANN-FILTER. In the independent automotive aftermarket, the filter is available in original equipment quality as C 29 046 for DAF XD, XF II and XG series commercial vehicles.
New, innovative MANN-FILTER air filter C 29 046
The innovative air filter impresses with its patented design, which significantly simplifies servicing and makes installation easier. Pascal Neef, Senior Expert in Air Filter Product Development at MANN+HUMMEL, explains: "The unusual shape of our filter catches the eye at first glance. For the first time, we have implemented what is known as a pleat spread, placed curved "feet" on the filter end plate and attached a guide outline in the center tube. These measures ensure that the air filter is correctly positioned and installed in the housing. This effectively prevents both incorrect installation and the element from tipping downwards. In this way, we offer ease of use combined with maximum safety."
Complex sealing thanks to special sealing contour
For an especially reliable seal at the interface between the filter and air filter housing, C 29 046 features an innovative seal with two sealing lips made of PUR foam. Its special sealing profile is precisely matched to the housing, seals in several positions and ensures an optimum fit. In addition, the seal is elastic, pressable, temperature-resistant and tear-resistant.
Technical expertise
MANN+HUMMEL has received several patents worldwide for this sealing geometry with two sealing lips, the pleat spread and the guide contour at the closed end or center tube. The company holds a total of over 4,700 patent applications, patents and utility models based on the innovations of more than 1,200 researchers and developers worldwide.
Reliable filtration of even the smallest impurities
Thanks to nanofiber technology, the innovative air filter achieves a very high particle separation rate of 99.98 percent with ISO-certified test dust and a dirt absorption capacity of up to 2.3 kilograms. The fibers used have a diameter of less than a micrometer (µm) and filter even the tiniest particles out of the intake air almost completely – particles that are up to 500 times finer than a human hair. This ensures functional reliability and protection throughout the entire maintenance interval.
Glue string technology
C 29 046 also has other qualities: a special thread made of polyester fibers runs around the air filter bellows at a constant gradient and stabilizes the distances between the filter pleats evenly over the entire filter height. Positive effect: significantly lower flow resistance and thus reduced pressure loss. This in turn optimizes the filter performance and contributes to fuel savings.
Protects driver and vehicle
The new MANN-FILTER air filter is equipped with a waterproof, flame-retardant impregnation, which effectively reduces the risk of fire in the air filter in the engine compartment throughout the entire maintenance interval. This not only provides increased protection for the vehicle and load, but above all also for the driver and other road users.
Regular replacement is important
Reliable and safe filtration is important for the stable and efficient operation of a vehicle – especially a commercial vehicle. Neef emphasizes: "In order to maintain the performance of a filter, we recommend adhering to the service intervals specified by the vehicle manufacturer. Over time, the filter medium clogs due to the particulate load. Only a timely replaced filter can perform its meticulous cleaning work perfectly."
